Hey 🙂 it’s Melanie. I’m pretty sure most of you have never gone to a new school, but if you have, you can probably relate to how I feel. I have moved to a new school several times. First, I was in Jenkintown and then I moved to Cheltenham, and next I moved into Upper Moreland. All these schools are in Pennsylvania. All the times I moved, I went to elementary schools where the classes aren’t as difficult. This is my first year moving to a new middle school… Eugene A. Tighe. On the first day of school, things were horrifying. I was standing in the middle of a giant crowd waiting in line for my lanyard, or at least I thought I was. Really, all the kids were just standing and talking about which color he or she had and if they could trade each other’s lanyards.

On the first day of school, things were horrifying.”

— Melanie S.

I was introduced to all the girls in my homeroom, and boy, let me tell you, they were tall! I finally got inside, and I was given the last locker on the end. The bell rang, and I went to math, literature, and lunch. All the teachers were nice.

At lunch, I didn’t really know who to sit with, and I  just felt so alone. There were so many tall people towering over me, but I know it was only in my head. After lunch, I headed to my locker and then to science class. Mr. B was nice, and I thought to myself that his class would be okay. Then  went to social studies. This class has always been my weakest subject so I was really nervous. When I arrived and the teacher started talking about things we would do this year, at that point, I knew I  was going downhill already. Later, I had all of my specials and everything was still kind of weird, but got through that day; then I got through that week, and finally got through that month.
